Waterfalls

Fed by summit snowfields and natural springs, the White Mountains are home to some of New England’s most prolific waterfalls. Many which are located here in the North Conway and Mount Washington Valley region.

North, South, East or West, waterfalls can be found in any direction throughout the Mount Washington Valley, cascading down the mountain side or rambling over glacial boulders.  Come winter, the water slows and freezes to form a magnificent wall of ice highlighted by colors of crystal blue, light greens, and subdued yellows. Travel North, just above the town of Jackson on route 16 North to Glen Ellis Falls – a dynamic, 64 foot waterfall cascading into a large pool fed by mountain streams. The turn off for the falls is .7 miles south of Pinkham Notch on Route 16. Head South from North Conway to Sabadday Falls, just 3.5 miles west from where Bear Notch joins the Kancamagus highway. Head West on Route 302 beyond Bartlett to visit the highest single set of falls in NH, measuring nearly 200 feet at Arethusa Falls. An added bonus is that you can also view Colisum Falls, Bemis Brooks Falls, and Fawn Pool along the way. To get there, take route 302 west to Crawford Notch State Park Entrance. The trail starts to the left of the private road above the RR tracks and is about 1.3 miles to the falls. And just outside of North Conway on West Side Road is Diana’s Bath – easily accessible for the whole family.
